Better performance, one step at a time
Not every improvement requires starting from scratch. With Jets® solutions, existing sanitary systems can be renewed step by step – replacing toilets, pumps, or other components as needed.
Our products can be seamlessly integrated into most existing setups, even if they weren’t originally based on our technology. The result? Improved reliability, higher efficiency, and a more sustainable system – without unnecessary downtime or cost. For our customers, upgrade projects often mean less waste, less disruption, and extended system lifetime. In short: a smarter path toward modern, efficient sanitation.
Keeping systems up to date
For many shipowners and operators, the motivation to retrofit is simple: they want to solve a recurring problem. It can be lack of spare parts, unreliable performance, or because they previously experienced limited service. When maintenance becomes a burden, it’s natural to look for a partner who can provide a long-term, reliable solution.
- Upgrading to a Jets® system often starts with a challenge. A customer may be tired of chasing spare parts or struggling with unstable performance. In these cases, we can offer a energy-efficient alternative, and the process is often easier than they expect, explains Raymond Hovlid, Sales Manager Aftermarket at JETS
Jets® vacuum units can, for example, replace older Ejector systems from other suppliers. On MS Crown Seaways, this resulted in an energy reduction of 43.9%, while maintaining the same passenger capacity. With a smaller footprint, stable operation and smart frequency control, the new system provided both savings and comfort on board.

Flexible and compatible by design
One of our vacuum solutions greatest strengths is flexibility. Our systems can be connected to existing gravity or vacuum networks and adapted to the customer’s layout and capacity requirements. This makes it possible to modernise gradually, one component at a time.
A Vacuumarator® pump from Jets® can operate with toilets or valves from another brand. This means customers can start small: replace valve, pumps toilets and experience the difference before committing to a full system replacement. Over time, they can transition step by step towards a complete Jets® solution.
- Many of our upgrades are done in stages. It gives customers full control, keeps downtime low, and makes it easy for crew and technical staff to get familiar with the new components as they’re installed, says Robin Jackson Indreflø, Sales Support Retrofit & Upgrade at JETS.

Experience and trust
We have performed retrofit and upgrade projects worldwide, both directly and through our global partner network. With decades of experience across the cruise, offshore, and RoPax segments, the company has built strong relationships with owners and operators who value reliability and service.
- When a fleet already has Jets® systems installed on several vessels, it makes sense to keep that consistency across the board. It streamlines operations, simplifies training, and reduces supply chain complexity. The crew already knows the equipment, and they know they can trust it, says Felix Eikrem, Sales Manager Aftermarket at JETS.
That trust is backed by a global service organisation and reliable access to spare parts. Every upgrade also comes with a 12-month warranty, ensuring confidence during the first year of operation after installation.
Designed for longevity
Behind every Jets® component lies a clear goal: long service life with minimal maintenance. Our continuous innovation ensures that even older systems can be improved with new, more efficient components.
Recent examples include the piston valve technology, which has proven highly durable compared to earlier membrane-based designs. Customers report stable operation even at lower vacuum levels – which reduces energy consumption and wear over time.
- Upgrading key components like valves or pumps doesn’t just make the system more efficient. It also extends the life of the entire installation. The result is less waste, fewer spare parts, and lower total operating costs, Jackson Indreflø highlights.
A commitment to sustainability
Upgrades and retrofits are a crucial part of our sustainability strategy. By renewing systems instead of replacing them entirely, customers can significantly reduce material use and waste, while achieving measurable energy savings.
Each upgrade represents a step toward more resource-efficient operation, helping customers modernise their systems without starting from scratch.
Because at Jets®, innovation isn’t only about creating something new – it’s about making what already exists perform better, last longer, and waste less.
